Championing Quality of Life as an Endpoint in Clinical Trials

The Tug McGraw Foundation (TMF) is a non-profit organization committed to enhancing Quality of Life for children and adults with brain tumors. As its reach and impact grew, TMF sought a meaningful way to leverage relationships with world-renowned researchers and clinicians and to demonstrate leadership in the brain tumor community. Ritz Communications worked with TMF to convene the first-ever Brain Tumor Quality of Life Research Summit as a call-to-action for Quality of Life as a significant clinical endpoint.

Ritz led the summit planning and organization with careful attention to expanding upon existing Quality of Life research. In addition to securing funding and managing logistics, Ritz created a web-based survey of professionals and patients and a literature review. Findings were provided to participants to inform the agenda and encourage a solution-focused discussion. Following the summit, Ritz disseminated a meeting report to participants to share with their institutions and research colleagues.

In addition, Ritz was responsible for strategies that resulted in:

  • Summit attendance by 28 nationally recognized, multi-disciplinary researchers, clinicians and advocates, including the Deputy Director of the National Cancer Institute
  • Significant corporate funding, a major goal of the summit
  • Participant satisfaction with the “clarity and content of the agenda” and the solutions-focused discussion
  • Newly identified opportunities to improve the quality of brain tumor research and new funding sources

Ritz Communications’ understanding of science, knowledge of the market and communications expertise made them critical to our success. Ritz provided excellent strategic counsel and hands-on support to achieve our communications goals by leveraging scientific advancements and current events.”
